Biomorphs

Series Description

I call these photographs “biomorphs” because of their resemblance to biological forms – either primitive organisms or organs of more developed creatures. But in either case this usage is deceptive, as the objects are not biological entities in any meaningful sense. They are in fact rubber bands, rubber bands that have been aged and manipulated to assume the shapes you see here. The printed images are considerably larger than the objects pictured (these are 16” by 20” prints). A shallow depth of field has been used to leave part of the image out of focus, which adds to sense of mystery I hope these photos convey.
